Hilton Head Island was the first ecologically-planned destination in The United States. Light pollution ordinances are in effect across the island to protect the habitat of the loggerhead turtles which sometimes confuse the lights of dwellings and street lights with the phosphorescence of the ocean. While modern conveniences such as shopping malls and five-star hotels are widely available, care has been taken to blend these structures into the native ecology as much as possible.
Looking to Hilton Head Island Rentals? looking to Hilton Head Vacation Rental?
If this is your first time to Hilton Head island, prepare to be stunned by beauty! Twelve miles of tropical sands await your arrival. Hilton Head Island boasts a mild climate year round, and the ocean temperature in the summer averages a pleasant 79 degrees. Whether you’re relaxing on the white sands or enjoying a romantic stroll, Hilton Head Island beaches offer the best in exotic vacation luxury.
If you really want to see Hilton Head, consider renting a bicycle from one of the numerous bike rental outfits. With miles of bike paths available, many of which take you through nature preserves, this is truly an enjoyable way to experience the natural splendor of the island. At low tide, the beaches of Hilton Head make an excellent hard packed sand riding surface. Now, I don’t suggest that you find a course where they use temporary greens a lot of the time. However, there’s no reason why you can’t imagine a narrower fairway within the confines of the real fairway and a smaller green, perhaps an 8-yard diameter circle around the flag, and imagine you are playing on a course like Harbour Town. The good news is that if you narrowly miss your imagined fairway or green, you may still be on the real one.
